Mathieu Amalric


Mathieu Amalric is a French actor and filmmaker. Amalric is perhaps best known internationally for his performance as the lead villain in Bond film Quantum of Solace, his performance in Steven Spielberg‘s Munich, and for his role in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, for which he drew critical acclaim. He has also won the César Award and the Lumières Award.


Teaches at La Femis (French National Film School).

Born to Jacques Almaric, who has worked as an editorial journalist for the French newspapers Le Monde and Libération, and his wife Nicole Zand, a literary critic for Le Monde.
Mathieu’s mother is from a Polish Jewish family, and was born in the Polish village where director Roman Polanski had lived with his family before World War II. Mathieu’s father is of French background.
Has two sons, Antoine (b. 1997) and Pierre (b. 1999).
